Smoked Chex Mix

This is a recipe that is easy to play with to create your own favorite snack. Mix or match whichever kind of Chex cereal you like so that you end up with a total of around 8 cups of cereal. As for the rest of the ingredients, have fun. Try different things, like goldfish crackers, different shaped pretzels, different kinds of nuts, toasty O’s cereal, other kinds of snack crackers, etc.. Experiment to make it your own!

 

Ingredients

4 Cups Rice Chex cereal

4 Cups Corn Chex cereal

2 Cups small pretzels

2 Cups snack crackers (Cheez-Its, oyster crackers, goldfish crackers, etc.)

1 ½ Cups nuts (peanuts, mixed nuts, cashews, beer nuts, etc.)

1 stick butter

2 ½ Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 - 2 Tablespoon Grilling Gods Southern Heat rub

1 1/2 Teaspoon Grilling Gods Salt of the Gods

 

Directions

1. In a large bowl mix cereal, pretzels, crackers, and nuts.

2. In a small bowl microwave butter until melted. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, Grilling Gods Southern Heat and Salt of the Gods rub. Stir until well blended. Taste the butter mixture and add more spice/heat if desired.

3. Pour the butter mixture over the cereal mixture, stirring well to evenly coat everything.

 

4. Pour coated mixture into a disposable aluminum pan and spread out evenly. 

5. Place in preheated smoker. Smoke on High Smoke (or 225F) for 1 ½ - 2 hours. Stir mixture every 15 minutes to evenly dry and smoke all pieces.

6. Spread on a paper towel lined baking sheet to cool. Store in an airtight container.

 

All seasonings can be adjusted according to taste.

 

Don't have a smoker? You can microwave in a large microwave bowl uncovered on high for 5 to 6 minutes. Thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in an airtight container.
